Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Today I am feeling so thankful for so much! This year I have come to appreciate how much my close family means to me, and how grateful I am for the gospel. 2011 has been a whirlwind year, with so many exciting things.. which brings me to the number one person I am grateful for today, Landon. I could not have hoped to find a better person to spend eternity with. I am so grateful that I finally have found him, the man of my dreams and so much more. He is everything to me, my other half, my best friend and he makes marriage perfect and easy. I have never been happier than I am now, and it is because of Landon and his impact on my life. He is such a giving, wonderful person. I love him with everything I have and I can't wait to grow old with him, and someday have our grandchildren over to our house for Thanksgiving dinner.

I also just want to tell my family how grateful I am for them. Without my family I would be lost. I have learned, and constantly learn so much from each of them. I am so thankful to know that no matter what my parents, and megan and ryan will always be there for me, no matter how stupid my problems are, or when I just need a good laugh, they are the ones I can turn to. I am so thankful for such a wonderful, strong father who is such an example of a Priesthood holder. I have learned more from him than he will ever know. My mom will always be my hero. She has always been there for me, and lifts me up every time I see her. She is optimistic, kind, selfless and beautiful. Megan is the most loyal person I have ever known. The bond we share as sisters, nobody will ever understand. She is a part of me and always will be. I rely on her in so many ways. And Ryan is perfect. He is the most amazing brother. Him and I have always shared a special relationship and I have loved watching him grow into the most incredible young man, and someday missionary.

I am also thankful to have married into such an amazing family. The Fielding's have been there for Landon and I in so many ways, that it would be impossible to thank them enough. I immediately felt like a daughter to Rick and Denise and love spending time with them. I look forward to Tuesdays and Thursdays when I get to spend time with Denise and Devrie at pilates. I am so grateful for Devrie for treating me like a sister, and for being such an amazing example of a wonderful mother and wife. I hope someday I can live up to her perfection, because even though she doesn't see it, she is incredible in my eyes. I admire Brynlee's drive and motivation. She works so hard in cougarettes and in school and it is amazing to watch her shine. And it has been fun to have another younger brother Braxon. He is hilarious, and I am so glad when he is around because I know he will always make us all laugh.

And last but not least, I am so grateful for such amazing friends! These girls in my life make it so much fun!! I don't know what I would do without them. And I am especially excited because my other sister (basically) is returning home from her mission in one week from today!

This has been an amazing day of reflection. I am the luckiest girl in the world, because the people that surround me in my life are amazing. I love you all so much!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday fun!

This weekend Landon and I were able to do a little kicking back and cutting loose. Since Landon only has one class on Friday mornings, the weekend basically starts Thursday night for us. So Friday after Landon's class, we decided to take kimbo slice out....

but not before Landon ate almost a whole pumpkin pie, cold, while driving, not a safe experience.

This is Kimbo Slice. It is big and black and nobody really knows what it is. But Kimbo is used for four wheeling. Landon and I took her out to the west desert. It was so much fun! My first experience on Kimbo wasn't great, so it was nice to give her a second shot.

After we took Kimbo out, we stoppped at Ikea, Home Depot and Anthropologie to pick up a few things for our latest art project. This is what we came up with! We took a blank wall in our bedroom and made this!

After our art project we met up with the Fielding and Knight families for some dinner and some Disney on Ice. It was fun to watch Braylon, Chayce and Luke enjoy the show. I think next time we go, it will be with our kids, cause it wasn't a very adult friendly show.
Saturday was a wonderful day! Landon and I woke up late, I made an amazing egg casserole and we had a lazy morning. That afternoon we were planning on going to the U football game. So we went to tailgate at the new business school which was so much fun to see all of my old co worker friends, but while we were there it started snowing. Landon and I decided to head home and enjoy the game in our warm apartment. It was a fantastic game by the way!

After the game, we met up with our friends Ashley and Tyler Pack. We love hanging out with these two! Ashley and I met in Chile and became best friends for the months we were there. She and I are two peas in a pod. Anyway, we met up for a great mexican dinner.
After dinner we headed to Mates of State! They had a concert at the Urban Lounge. It was SO much fun!! Landon probably thinks I am crazy because I was dancing all over the place but it was such a blast! Mates is one of my favorite bands of all time, most people have no idea who they are, but you can count on Ashley and I to be at their concert!

Also, we met up with a wonderful bear at the concert. It was so fun to see Sam and I think these two enjoyed some guy time.

Best concert ever.

Sunday was also a great day! After church Landon and I went up big cottonwood canyon to enjoy the snow and take some pictures! Then we went to the Welch's to have a pre thanksgiving meal because Ryan leaves Friday for India! I am so jealous.

Overall is was another wonderful few days in this blissful life we are living! Whoever said marriage is hard, is seriously disturbed.

Our First Halloween

Halloween this year was so much fun! It was Landon and my first Halloween together and we knew we had to do something great! That weekend we were able to attend our good friend Megan Turley's couples dress up party and it was such a blast! We actually won for best costume.. here is a picture of the winning outfits..

I was a mail-order bride, and Landon was the creepy american who bought me. It was so much fun! Landon and I made my costume from FedEx foam envelopes and taped them together. He literally had to tape me in. My veil and lace is made of bubble wrap. It was such a fun costume!

We also were able to attend the annual Fielding Halloween party! It was so much fun, and the whole Fielding family went as the Kardashian's! It was such a funny costume. Landon and I were Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries.. of course I had to put a butt in. Here are some pictures!

It was such a fun holiday!

Northwest Adventure

Landon and I are newlyweds, and broke, with a serious sense of adventure. If we get a chance to go somewhere or do something we immediately jump on it, cameras in hand. Since this was the first year in forever that Landon had a fall break at the U we decided to jump in the car and drive until we couldn't drive anymore.

We started driving from the SLC and headed north, after two full days of driving, and puling off the freeway in Kennewick Washington to sleep in the car, we finally made it to Vancouver Canada! Vancouver is such a pretty city! We loved visiting Stanley Park, seeing the city, and shopping way too much!

We left Vancouver, crossed back into US territory and decided to set up camp in the most gorgeous National Park ever! It was called Birch Bay, right on the Washington coast. It was so fun to make alfredo noodles and use our tent. This was one of our favorite nights.

The next morning we headed down the coast, and ended up in Seattle! This was my favorite city of the trip! We were able to ride the Space Needle, hit Pike Place Market, have the best seafood and clam chowder, see the gum wall, do some shopping and see the piers. It was so gorgeous and the weather was perfect! Mid 60's and sun!

After we saw Seattle we headed through Washington and stopped in Tacoma, Olympia and then headed down to Cannon Beach, Oregon. This place was amazing! We were able to stay in the cutest little hotel and our balcony went out onto the beach. It was incredible! We walked along the shore, and ate amazing Mexican food. It was such a romantic little beach town.

We headed into Portland for a few hours, didn't love it there so we decided to head back to Cannon Beach and head down the Oregon coast. Can I just say this was the most amazing drive! There were so many cool patches of trees and forest and then you would pop out into a beach town. It was so incredible and I am so glad we were able to see so much.

We spent the night in a little town called Florence, Oregon and the next morning headed into Eugene. We were able to stop at the University of Oregon bookstore and pic a few duck things up. We spent some time in Eugene and then we were off again to Crater Lake. This place was incredible! It is the deepest lake in North America. The water was so blue, and it was so high that there was snow on the ground. It was gorgeous!

From Crater Lake we were able to head down into California and see some of the Redwood National Forest. This was Landon's favorite part! These trees were Giant!!! It was so much fun to drive along the coast and see these huge trees. One of my favorite parts was the "drive-thru" trees.

After our long drive, we made it to San Francisco, our final destination on this amazing trip. We had such a fun time in San Fran and we tried to fit everything in! We went to fisherman's warf, chinatown, shopping, the piers, lombard street, the golden gate bridge, got our car towed, spent way too much time in Zara, and ate some amazing crab.

It was a trip I know we will never forget! We had such a fun time spending almost two weeks together with no distractions! I just love my husband so much.

New Callings

A few weeks ago Landon and I were called into the Bishops office. Thinking they were just going to ask us to speak since we were new, I realized that the young men's president was also in the office with us. I immediately knew that Landon was getting a calling! Well yes, Landon was in fact called to be a young men advisor... and I also got a calling... Primary chorister! Umm.. yes, me, leading music to tons of little kids! I was a little nervous at first, but after leading them for the past two weeks I actually love it! The program is coming up on October 16. Cross your fingers for me!

Landon is loving his calling. He gets too excited every week for "ward ball" on Tuesdays and the young men activities on Wednesday. This week was kickball and he couldn't wait to tell me his 3 home run kicks! We are having a blast in our new ward and absolutely love it!

Utah man am I

Also, we want to give a shout out to our Utes who destroyed BYU on Saturday! 54-10... not a good day for a cougar fan... but we were lucky enough to go to the game with Landon's parents! So, we were the only ones in red in a sea full of blue... I am really happy we won haha.

It was awesome to see Brynlee in her cougarette action! She did such a good job and it was fun to see her perform!

Go UTES!!!

Turning leaves

So for the past year and a half I have had the most amazing job at the David Eccles School of Business. I was the Event and Development Assistant, which pretty much means I would coordinate events for the school. I absolutely loved my job! But sadly, times change and I had to quit. Anyway, my last day was our annual golf tournament which turned out great! And to celebrate Landon took me to Trio for dinner. (Our favorite date night). It was such a bittersweet day, but I am excited to be working on Fielding Films and on the side I am back to substitute teaching! Life is great!

Brynlee and Christian

On August 2 my new family was able to celebrate another wedding! Landon's sister Brynlee and Christian got married only 6 weeks after us. It was a lot of fun to be celebrating two engagement, stressful at times (poor Denise) but their wedding was absolutely gorgeous! It was Brynlee's style completely.. elegant and beautiful! We can't wait to have years and years to come of fun with these two!

Thank You

One if my wedding goals was to send Thank You notes to the people who were so generous and gave us gifts at our showers and weddings! By the time our wedding rolled around I was all caught up on the shower Thank You notes. After we got back from our honeymoon we were showered with love and gifts from our wedding. We cannot even begin to thank everyone so much for the selflessness and the love and support that you have shown Landon and I. Anyway these were just from our wedding...

I am sort of a perfectionist, so I not only wanted to write a Thank You note to everyone, I wanted to have them all written and out before July 23, one month after our wedding. Landon and I spent many night writing and writing but we hadn't even made a dent. One day I came home from work and Landon told me he had a surprise for me.... He had written the rest of the Thank You notes!! It was the sweetest thing and I just love him so much for being so great. He seriously knows how to relieve some stress. Yeah, my husband is amazing.

Needless to say, we made our Thank You note goal! And it was a really good day when we sent the last Thank You note in the mail.

So...

I graduated. A long time ago. Actually, I technically graduated from the University of Utah in December. I finished my last final the day before I met my husband. (Perfect timing right?) Anyway, during the craziness of planning a wedding, I was able to walk and accept my diploma. What is cool about my graduation experience is that my dad Buzz was able to hand me my diploma! Cool huh? Yeah I thought so too. It was a really great moment I was able to share with my dad.

One of my favorite parts about this day was that Landon was able to be there. He had his tonsils taken out about 3 days before this and was so hyped up on drugs he probably doesn't remember it at all. But I love him for putting on a cardigan and supporting me.

It was just another perfect day with the people I love!
